SWEDISH WOOD – A SUSTAINABLE CHOICE ​

The greenhouse frame is made of Swedish, slow-growing pine. The slow growth of the tree makes the wood dense and hard and resistant to rot. The wood comes from carefully selected sawmills in Sweden, which minimizes our transportation. A well-maintained wooden greenhouse will last for many generations – a sustainable investment.

The greenhouse frames are manufactured in our own carpentry workshop, which means we have control over the quality of every detail we deliver.

LINICE OIL PAINT FOR BEST PROTECTION

To give the greenhouse good durability, we paint the wooden frame with three layers of linseed oil paint. Linseed oil paint penetrates the wood and provides rot protection. At the same time, a hard surface is created that repels water and attack. ​

By painting the frame before the greenhouse is assembled, all surfaces can be treated, which is especially good for the sensitive end wood.

​You can have your greenhouse in any color you want, but we have developed seven beautiful colors as our standard range. You can get matching steel strips and window putty for the glasses. ​

SINGLE GLASS​

In our greenhouses, the thickness of the glass is adapted to the size and construction of the frame. Most often, it is 4-6 mm thick flat glass. In cold greenhouses, which are not designed to be heated in winter, tempered single glass is used.

​Single glass creates a closeness to nature outside, you hear the wind and birds chirping. The most common today is whole, long glass, but it is also possible to get smaller panes of glass that are wrapped around, which can be nice in culturally historical environments.

INSULATING GLASS​

If you are interested in insulating your greenhouse or orangery and using it during the winter, we recommend insulating glass. It is double-paned glass with argon gas in between, which means that heat does not leak out through the glass as easily. ​

In a greenhouse with insulating glass, you will get more of a winter garden feel than a greenhouse and will experience a muted sound image. We can offer insulating glass in the ceiling or walls, or both. ​

​We manufacture two different door models for our greenhouses; a more modern, fully glazed version and a more classic one with a mirror and bars. Both models are 80 cm wide as a single door and 166 cm wide as a double door.

The doors are made of accoya, a wood material with very little tendency to swell. This is an important property in a greenhouse environment where humidity and temperature can vary greatly between inside and outside.

The doors can be either right- or left-hung. In the double doors, the right-hand door is a pass-through door.

STEEL STRIP FOR LESS MAINTENANCE​

​To attach the glass to the wooden frame, putty or steel strips are used. Today, it is most common for roof glass to be attached with steel strips. The strips are provided with a rubber strip that rests against the glass, and the strip is screwed into the roof joist so that it covers the entire wooden section. This means that maintenance of the roof is minimal. ​

Screens are always used on the wall sections when it is insulated glass. This gives a slightly more industrial and modern look, which can also fit nicely in certain environments. However, inside the greenhouse retains its special feeling of wood and warmth.

The strips can either be galvanized or painted in a color that matches the frame.

KIT FOR A GENUINE GREENHOUSE FEEL​

Traditionally, greenhouse glass has been puttyed, and even today it is most common for the glass on greenhouse walls to be puttyed. The putty is available in different colors, which match our standard colors for the greenhouse frame. But it is also possible to paint the putty with linseed oil paint, if you have chosen your own color.

Our installers attach the glass with pins when the greenhouse is assembled, but you can do the putty yourself or order it from your local glazier.

The putty we recommend is from the LaSeal brand and comes from Leif Arvidsson.
